Team Dribbling Gates Relay
By Andreas
Duration
15 min
Players
8-16 players
Equipment
12 cones, 4 bibs, 4 balls
Description / Setup
Set up a 30x24 unit area in the central pitch zone with multiple cone gates spread inside the grid. Split players into two equal teams, with each team starting from opposite sides of the area. On the coach signal, one player from each team dribbles through as many gates as possible in 30 seconds before returning and tagging the next teammate. A gate only counts if the player dribbles fully through it under control.
Coaching Points
Encourage players to take small touches when approaching gates and bigger touches when accelerating into open space. Players should scan before receiving the tag so they already know which gate to attack first. Use both feet and change direction sharply after each gate. Keep the ball close enough to protect it from traffic but far enough ahead to run at speed.
Scaling Rules
With fewer than 10 players use one ball per team and shorter 20 second rounds. With 12 or more players create three teams and add extra gates. To increase difficulty, require weak-foot dribbling only or add one passive defender inside the area.
